'Ultimate Gift' by Candy Knight

Thank you so much, Zara, for letting me visit today. I'm very excited to drop by on my first blog tour. I'm here to promote my début anthology, 'Ultimate Gift', a collection of six erotic short stories written to stimulate desire and satisfy one's hidden cravings.

I like to draw on my own sexual exploits for inspiration, I find reliving these adventures very sensual, which I'm told by other erotic authors is a good thing.

One of my stories is about having illicit sex in a situation where the couple might be caught or discovered. I know this is a popular turn on for a lot of people, including me. I remember being in deep thicket on a Surrey golf course when a wayward ball landed about four inches from our heads. We laid as still as corpses as the owner of said ball poked around in the shrub just feet away from us for a good ten minutes before leaving empty-handed which was very lucky for us as neither of us had a stitch on!

It was never my intention to write erotica, my plan was to write 'How To' books and I had a good deal of success. However, after the third one, I was bored and thought there had to be something more exciting to do but I didn't know what. Just a couple of days later I saw an advertisement for a course on writing erotic fiction and I booked it without hesitating.

I'm a firm believer in writing what you know and feel and the two things I know a great deal about are weight loss and sex, after all, I've been married three times! So, I self-published a couple of erotic stories and they have been very popular, so much so that I have included them in the my début anthology 'Ultimate Gift'.

I am currently working on the first book in a paranormal trilogy, 'Flight of Fancy'. The main character, Becky, is an astral planing voyeur. She uses the technique to satisfy her sexual desires and she becomes so accomplished that she is able to possess another person's body. She wreaks a terrible revenge after being betrayed by someone she trusts. I think it is very different and I hope the readers will enjoy its unorthodox approach.

Blurb
Ultimate Gift

Elizabeth needs a stiff drink and a hug from her friend after spending six torturous hours in the car with David. On their arrival they meet two stunning guests; the smoking-hot porn star, Suzy, and the dark enigmatic Toby. As the evening progresses inhibitions relax and sexual tensions start to rise. Could this diversion be just what they need to spice up their humdrum marriage or will it go too far?

Dream Surfer
Layne has a passion for impromptu sex in the open air. Her sporting accident prevents her from joining her lover in the surf and he leaves her sunbathing on the secluded beach. As the sun beats down on her near-naked body, her mind starts to drift to the inevitable passion she will share with her lover when he returns cool from the sea to soothe the heat from her body.

Lapping It Up
Married for eighteen years, frustrated housewife Trudy lusts after the passion she once shared with her husband. Recognising that something drastic has to be done, she asks her best friend to help. At first Dawn is flabbergasted by Trudy's disclosure but agrees to work with her to plan a passionate evening that their husbands will not forget. Will they discover new appetites for their husbands or for each other?

Disciplining Jayne
Jayne fantasises about having sex with a stranger in uniform, just thinking about it makes her hot and wet. She arranges a birthday treat for herself, a night of passion to fulfil her dream. She gives very explicit instructions for the evening's entertainment. However, her handsome escort has other ideas.

Rumour Has It
The mysterious Kate meets her perfect man when she spills water over his impeccably polished shoes. Tim instantly falls for the striking red-head and spends the nights fulfilling her every need until an unexpected phone call reveals Kate's secret. Will the revelation rip them apart? Or will lust really overcome?

Unintentional Mistress
Bethany meets Max at a Christmas party and their mutual desire cannot be controlled. Events take an unexpected turn when Bethany discovers that she's the 'other women'. She knows that she should walk away, but can she bring herself to leave the sexually-charged Max? Or will she stay and have her heart torn apart?

Excerpt - From the title story Ultimate Gift
Looking around the candle-lit table there was a deep feeling of intimacy between all the guests.

Guy proffered me a black shiny olive on a cocktail stick. I opened my mouth and hooking my tongue around it I plucked it off. He smiled seductively and stabbed another suggestively, this time a green one stuffed with bright red pepper. He held it to his lips and kissed it before popping it into my mouth. I had never perceived that anything so innocent could be so sexually electrifying.

Guy’s hand had moved a little further up my leg and was stroking it lightly. I was concerned that someone would notice but as I glanced around it was apparent that everyone was otherwise engaged, including Hilly.

I opened my legs wider to further accommodate Guy's warm and wandering fingers, thoughts of David and Suzie completely forgotten. The three large rum and cokes and the two glasses of wine that I had already consumed had the desired effect of making me feel very mellow indeed.

It was rather surreal, sitting and looking around the table watching people quietly chatting while having my leg tenderly fondled whilst Guy spoke to me in the lowest most intimate tone.

I decided to reciprocate the attention and moved my hand to the inside of his thigh, when I felt Toby's hand on my other leg. My stomach tingled with anticipation – two men were paying attention to my inner thighs in public. It felt an incredible turn on. I would like to have explored Toby's leg but I had only just moved my palm flat against Guys hard muscled thigh so it would have been crass not to continue.

Nevertheless, I moved towards Toby slightly and smiled seductively to show him that I was enjoying the attentiveness that he was bestowing upon me.

'So, you and Guy have known each other since Uni, you must have a lot in common to have remained friends for so long.' I breathed the words provocatively.

He smelt absolutely divine, clean citrus mixed with musk wafted from his warm skin. I had the most overwhelming urge to lick his face, right there in front of everyone in the room.

'Yes, indeed, we enjoy sharing exquisite things,' he paused looking into my eyes, 'Especially beautiful women.'

As he spoke he leaned towards me gently increasing the pressure on my thigh, his breath caressed my jaw bone brushing the soft skin of my throat making me quiver. His lips gently brushed the tip of my nose. I could have dragged him from the chair and fucked him right there. All the while Guy was still tenderly caressing my leg, as I was his.

Doris O'Connor on different genres, and wearing different hats!

So, what's the big deal about genre?

I'm curious to see your answers on this. Really, I am. You see, as a reader my tastes vary, and what I read depends as much on my mood of the day, as it does on which one of my favourite authors has a new release, or which new author has caught my eye.
I have a favourite genre of course. That would be BDSM, either contemporary or paranormal, but I will read literally anything, as long as it is Romance, and it has a good story. If you don’t hook me within the first few pages, chapters, I will not continue reading. My time is precious, and I will not waste it on a book that I don't enjoy. Now, to be fair, this doesn’t happen too often. I'm a fairly discerning judge of the blurb/excerpt, and I will not buy a book that doesn't appeal to me in some way.
You won't find me naming and shaming books I didn't like either. That's not my style, and, after all it's all personal choice. Someone else will no doubt love a book I hate. That's just the way the cookie crumbles, to knick one of my favourite movie lines.
*grins*
Does it matter to me, if the author switches from contemporary to paranormal or sci-fi? From m/f to m/f/m, m/m, or even f/f? Nope it doesn't—not one little bit. Love is love and a good story is a good story in my opinion, and usually you can judge by the cover, blurb, category, genre, etc. what sort of a book you are going to get.
Why then do so many authors adopt different pen names for different genres? I can fully understand a different pen name if you're writing YA, or children's books and Erotic Romance, for instance. You don't want your innocent young readers to stumble upon something that you have written with your adult hat on. Though, one could argue, in this day and age they are bound to find you anyway, but that's another issue.
But if you're writing erotic anyway, do you need a different pen name for each genre?
I ask, because I write both, contemporary and paranormal, and I write across several sub genres in that. I do not have a pen name. I couldn't cope with the different hats. I have enough to do trying to juggle all the usual plates of mother, wife, writer, friend, reader to name but a few.
I can barely keep the names of my kids straight in my head, let alone add another name for myself and the whole creating a different persona, online presence that goes with that. I admire those that can and do. I know several writers who juggle several different personas and kudos to them. I could never do it.
You see, I have a very unpredictable muse, and she has been known to change her mind halfway through a story as to whether this one is contemp or para. I've gotten used to her ADHD tendencies now. They used to do my head in when I first started writing.
Personally, I think it keeps my writing fresh. I would bore myself if I didn't push into new directions and jiggled things up a bit and for the most part my readers seem to like it—I think—hope.
*looks worried*
Feel free to correct me if not. I promise to only cry quietly into my coffee cup.
*smiles*
Seriously though, I would love your thoughts on this. Opinions between authors seem to be divided. I sometimes wonder whether I'm the only one not writing under a pen name, for instance. I know I'm not. I can think of a few off the top of my head, but we do seem to be in the minority.
It's probably one of those things that there is no right or wrong answer to. Each author will have to do what they deem right for them, their personal circumstances, and their readership.
I seem to be doing okay with my approach so far…
This month sees two new releases from me.
The Billionaire's Unwanted Virgin released May 3rd and is a contemporary erotic romance.
Blurb:

Lay back and think of England, she could do this. It was only sex, after all. Auctioning off her virginity was the easy part—going through with it not so easy.  When Alice realizes who has acquired her, keeping her emotions out of the deal seems an impossible task.

Self-made billionaire Lakota, Lance Kemnay has no time for women, let alone one, who would sell her virginity to the highest bidder. Ever practical, however, he sees in Alice a solution to his immediate need for a wife. The emotions she stirs in him are just lust, and lust can be dealt with. As they connect emotionally and physically, his resolve to keep his heart aloof is tested beyond limits.

Can he trust his tender feelings, or has he been taken for a fool by the one woman he thought he could trust?

May 31st will see the release of Under Orders. This is a paranormal Romance On The Go Story (short stories designed to be read when you're in a hurry and still need your romance fix)

Blurb:

Who ever heard of being ordered to wear vibrating panties to a business meeting? The visiting CEO may be sex-on-legs-gorgeous, but Anna knows a sexual harassment case when she sees it. No one is going to order her to entertain Jonathan Symmonds—no one but her own body it seems.

Jonathan proves a hard man to resist. When he reveals his secret identity, this daughter of a slayer ought to be running for the hills not play submissive to his dark side.

Will passion and a shared past be enough to keep them together, or is their bond doomed to end at the stake?

****
Like I said, unpredictable muse. This story started as a flash on my blog and kept niggling until I expanded on it. In fact, it started off as a contemporary and then my hero announced he was in fact a vampire—a living, breathing, evolved vampire.
Yeah, that got my attention too, especially as the heroine is the daughter of a slayer. Delicious conflict, right there.
I leave you with a little excerpt from Under Orders. Don't forget to let me know what you think about authors writing in different genres. I'm giving away a copy of either book to one lucky commenter, winner's choice. I'll pick the winner on May 31st.

Excerpt:
Clearly it had been way too long since Anna had last gotten laid if her body could respond to a complete stranger in this fashion of reckless abandonment.
He turned his attention back to the room, and Anna released the breath she’d been holding. Brian glared at her, and that uneasy feeling in her stomach returned. She squared her shoulders and stared him down, before Jonathan’s hand on her thigh pulled her attention back to him.
“I would like to thank Anna for her diligent attention to detail in drawing up these reports.” He shifted his hand higher during those few words, until he reached the top of her stocking. Digging one finger underneath he caressed the soft skin of her inner thigh, and Anna forced herself not to squirm and give the game away. “She has been most thorough, and the results will show once and for all who is responsible for this current … mishap.”
He smiled briefly, and looked toward Brian. The older man shrank in his seat. His Adam’s apple bobbed wildly as though he could barely hold onto his saliva. Beads of sweat broke out on his ruddy complexion, and Anna was half expecting the pencil he clutched to splinter under the strain of his white knuckled grip.
“I also feel the need to make it clear that Anna acted under direct orders from myself and her immediate superior.” He nodded toward Anna’s boss, and Leonard Peterson shifted to stand behind Brian, his expression as grave as she’d ever seen it.
“No one here should have any reason to hold the findings of this report against Anna.” Again he paused, and his penetrating gaze swept around the room until he seemed satisfied that he had everyone’s undivided attention. At the same time he shifted his hand higher up the inside of her thigh, until his knuckles brushed against the damp fabric covering her slit. Anna bit her lip to stop herself from moaning. The feather light touch seared her core, and her internal muscles clenched in need. The fabric grew wetter, and he was bound to notice. She risked a peek at his profile, and the slight elevation to his bottom lip told her that he knew exactly how turned on she was.
He took a deep breath and brushed his forefinger against her clit, pressing down just enough to make the little nubbin tingle in anticipation. That smirk of his deepened, when she couldn’t help her involuntary jump in response.
“Likewise no one in this room has anything to fear from these findings, unless they have not been acting in the company’s best interests. If you have indeed been mishandling funds then now would be a prudent time to own up to this fact.”
Again he paused, and Anna held her breath. He looked every inch the ruthless and dangerous business man he was reported to be. His harsh features had drawn tight, his high cheek bones accentuated under the artificial lighting that filled the room, despite the blaring sun outside the windows overlooking London’s skyline. He held himself perfectly still, the muscles bulging in tension under the light summer suit he wore. Only his finger moved in slow, measured circles, designed to drive Anna to the brink of insanity. She grasped hold of her armrests again, and coughed to hide her moan as that finger slipped under the elastic of her underwear and teased her entrance.
“I-I—” Brian shot out of his chair and looked as though he would have made a run for it, had Leonard not grabbed him by the suit lapels and pinned him against the wall. The door burst open, and two burly security guards took over and dragged Brian from the room. Anna was barely aware of the ensuing commotion, because Jonathan chose that moment to thrust two fingers knuckle deep inside her channel. Her pussy walls tightened around the digits, and Anna shut her eyes against the rising sensation deep within. There was something so deliciously naughty about the CEO finger-fucking her under the table.
The barely functioning rational side of her brain urged her to scream, to do something. He was taking liberties with her body that he had no right to take, but the other horny as hell part of her told that side to shut the fuck up, even as Jonathan added his thumb to her clit, pushing her closer and closer to release.
“Leonard, get Anna a glass of water. She is looking a little flushed.”
Her eyes flew open at the amused words, and she knew her cheeks must be as red as the roses in the vase across the room, when her boss stepped close enough to her to see exactly what was happening under the table. Jonathan did not release her. If anything he stepped up his assault, curling his fingers in such a way that he massaged her sweet spot deep inside.
Leonard cleared his throat repeatedly, and the water splashed over the side of the glass he was pouring for Anna, masking the wet sounds of Jonathan’s fingers thrusting in and out of her sopping cunt. She would leave a visible stain on her skirt and chair at this rate, but Anna could no more stop herself from climbing towards bliss than she could stop breathing. She dug her fingers into the arms of her chair and bit her lip so hard she drew blood, as her orgasm hit her with the full force of a speeding train. Irrespective of where she was, or perhaps because of it, waves of pleasure crashed over her, as her body shook in delicious aftershocks. Jonathan did not withdraw his fingers until the last of her shudders stopped, and when she opened her eyes it was to find the room empty, bar the three of them.
****
Author Bio:
Glutton for punishment would be a good description for Doris... at least that's what she hears on an almost daily basis when people find out that she has a brood of nine children, ranging from adult to toddler and lives happily in a far too small house, cluttered with children, pets, dust bunnies, and one very understanding and supportive husband. Domestic goddess she is not.
There is always something better to do after all, like working on the latest manuscript and trying not to scare the locals even more than usual by talking out loud to the voices in her head. Her characters tend to be pretty insistent to get their stories told, and you will find Doris burning the midnight oil on a regular basis. Only time to get any peace and quiet and besides, sleep is for wimps.
She likes to spin sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get. From contemporary to paranormal, BDSM to F/F, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.

Excerpt
When Louis was brought to her room, it was to fuck her throat. Those were Will's exact words and Louis was obedient. Jocelyn had actually vomited, using her word as soon as the bile stopped spilling from her lips.

“Louis. Clean that,” Will ordered. The man jumped to do his master's bidding. Will stripped the soiled robe from Jocelyn and carried her to the kitchen, setting her on the table.

“Sorry,” she said with downcast eyes.

Will paused in wetting a soft cloth at the pump. He wrung it out and mopped at her chest with the cool damp rag.

“Nonsense. You have impressed me,” he told her, brushing her hair back. “I expected you to demand he stop after the first thrust. You have come a long way.” He rinsed out the cloth and filled a glass with the water for her to drink before using the cloth on the dirty streaks in her hair.

She drank greedily, trying to wash the burn from her throat.

Will took the glass and pulled it away. “Not too much. You'll upset your stomach again.” It flopped at that moment, agreeing with the Master.

“Yes, sir,” Jocelyn agreed, taking a sip.

“Better.”

What a brilliant start to the weekend, I woke up Saturday morning and was googling my name (as you do) and found out I had a new release!

What I didn't know was that the eBook version would be out, well, right now!

The other two stories are written by the brilliant Elizabeth Coldwell and the wonderful Poppy Summers. The stories have been published as eBooks individually, but if you haven't read them yet here's a chance to grab all three together (or you can wait for that lovely, plush paperback copy in February).

Hope your weekend has been as good as mine,

Guest interview - Lucy Felthouse

I’m lucky enough to have Lucy Felthouse on the blog today – answering all my questions about ‘Finally Found’ which is in the Lover Unexpected anthology. I couldn’t resist asking a few extra questions which are just pure nosiness!

Book blurb –
Girlfriends share lots of things, including their most sinful secrets. When those secrets involve love, lust and long denied desire, sparks are sure to fly. And sometimes, there is no denying the need for a woman’s touch. In this volume you’ll find seven delicious stories of sensual, daring women who open their hearts to discover love, fulfillment and satisfaction—closer than they expected.

 About the story

Q. If you had to sum up ‘Finally Found’ in 30 words or less what would you say?
It's a friends-to-lovers story with fun, humour and erotica thrown in – literally! The characters read an erotic anthology! J

Q. What/who inspired you to write it?
It was actually written specifically for the call for submissions from Evernight Publishing. They wanted lesbian friends-to-lovers stories, so I thought long and hard and came up with Finally Found. And I had fun writing in some of the places in London that I've been to.

Q. It’s a great title, where did it come from?
I have no idea. I'm pretty rubbish at titles, so I'm glad you like it!

Q. Where did you find inspiration for your characters? Are they a little bit you, people you know, or inspired from what you see/hear?
I tend to base many of my characters on actors and actresses. Check out my Pinterest board to see my character inspirations: http://pinterest.com/cw1985/finally-found/

Q. What do you most like about Natalia and Ashleigh? If you met them would you love them or would they drive you mad?
I like their senses of humour, and their happy-go-lucky attitude. They're good fun, and I think I'd love them if I met them. We could continue exploring London together!

Q. I know you always have lots of stories in the pipeline, any you’d like to mention?
Yes – I have a new release coming tomorrow. It's my first gay story, and it's military erotica! It's a short story called Ditched and is published by Resplendence Publishing. Here's the link: http://lucyfelthouse.co.uk/published-works/ditched/

I also have quite a lot of other stuff in the pipeline. I just sold my first story to Ellora's Cave. It's called A Taste of London (yes, London again!) and is the first in a series which will then go to Paris, Rome and beyond... I also have quite a lot coming up in terms of other stories in anthologies.

I'm currently writing a novel, too. But that's a work in progress – but if I'm lucky that'll be published at some point, too!

And getting personal…
Q. Where/when do you write?
Where: usually in my office directly on to my laptop. Occasionally I'll take a notebook into my bedroom or the garden and get some words down and type them up later. If I sit in the garden, though, my dog insists on sitting on my knee and 'helping' by trying to lick my face! NOT sexy.

Q. What part of writing do you enjoy most, coming up with the idea, planning, writing it or typing The End?!
Typing The End, I think. Especially at the moment – I'm writing my first novel and it feels so strange to keep writing and writing on the same story and characters. My current word count is around 27k and I keep thinking how many short stories I'd have finished in this time. Having said that, I'm enjoying writing it, so let's hope 'The End' isn't too far away and that a publisher will take the book. Fingers crossed!

Q. Sum yourself up in 30 words or less?!
I'm laid-back and don't tend to worry too much about things—unless they're really important things. I love writing, I love my job, I love my friends, family, etc...

Q. Do you spend much time reading? What’s your favourite bedtime/holiday read? Favourite author/genre?
I spend lots of time reading! I review books, too, so I've always got one on the go. I tend to alternate a dirty book with a clean book. I don't have a favourite bedtime or holiday read, I just keep reading whatever I was reading. I don't have a favourite author, either. I read so much and so widely that I just couldn't pick a single one. After erotic romance, I'm a sucker for paranormal. But just lately I've been getting into thrillers. I quite fancy writing a spy thriller one day, but with the sex left in!

Q. Coffee or tea (or wine!)?
None of the above. Unless it's fruit tea.

Q. Starter or dessert?
Dessert. I have a sweet tooth.

Q. Favourite place in the world?
The Peak District, followed closely by Paris.

Q. What would you be doing if time, money, age were no object?
Everything!! I love to travel and explore new places and cultures. One of my lottery fantasies (there are lots, so I'll only mention one or we'll be here for weeks) is to rent a huge camper van in America and go exploring. I know so many writers over there that it'd be great to go and meet some of them, too.

I'd also be having a house built from scratch in the Peak District with lots of land and stunning views over the countryside. And it would have an enormous library and a swimming pool and sauna.

Q. Best bit of advice you’ve ever been given, and by whom?
One of my tutors at University taught me that you have to learn to edit yourself. Even if you love a particular word, phrase or sentence, if it doesn't make the story better, you have to be prepared to remove it. Unfortunately, the tutor is no longer with us, but I try hard to make sure his teachings live on in my work.
